Theatre at The Bishops C of E School in Newquay
With funding from The Ernest Cook Trust, StoryWorks has been working with year 6 at The Bishops C of E School in Newquay during the second half of the summer term 2009, on their end of year production about moving up and moving on and the transition from Primary to Secondary School.
The class had 10 day long sessions in all - seven drama-based and 3 with animation expert Amanda Lorens - to create their 'take' on growing up and changing situations and becoming more responsible!
The resulting piece was performed at the school on Thursday July 9th at 3.30pm and again in the evening. These performances were preceded by a performance to the whole school.
StoryWorks and The Bishops is very grateful for the support we have received from the Ernest Cook Trust and hope we will do their organisation proud.
Contributed by Jade and Sophie at The Bishops School in Newquay Year 6 from The Bishops School have been working with Kathy Tappin and Amanda Lorens to create Six 2 Seven Theatre Company! Amanda Lorens: We have been working with Amanda to create our animations to go with the play. We have been creating our characters and have been perfecting them throughout the week. She has also been showing us how to animate them, and we were amazed that it took so long to do. Furthermore she has been showing us some of her creations. Kathy Tappin: Kathy has been working with us on our tableaux and on our dialogue and script. Our tableaux are about our worries about going up to secondary school and how we can maybe fix them. Kathy has been a great help to us and will make our performance perfect! We did loads of work on character building and performance skills and non-verbal communication of meaning . . . .
